Legislation>>Congressional Support Still Needed For Repealing - 1/3/2007

While the recently passed legislation recognizes the need for care above the cap, it will expire at the end of 2006. Congress is likely to consider Medicare legislation again in 2006, and APTA is continuing to lobby for a full repeal of the therapy caps. It is important to continue building congressional support for legislation to completely repeal the therapy caps – the "Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act" (HR 916/S 438), which already has strong bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress.

The resources available through this page will help you keep up-to-date with developments on Capitol Hill and at CMS on how implementation of the new exemption process will affect Medicare patients and your practice. The resources also will help you participate in ongoing efforts to ensure that patient access to physical therapy benefits is not unfairly restricted.
